NO to Grizzly Bear Hunt Expansion in B.C.!!

  • By: D. Emard
  • Target: Andrew Wilson, Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources for British Columbia

British Columbia is now the last place on earth where there is a designated grizzly bear hunt, usually starting April 1st of each year, which caters mostly to only a very select few rich Americans.  Grizzly bear numbers are highly unknown, not surprising, as to the unique and secretive nature of this magnificent animal, each of which is extremely valuable and necessary in the ultimate survival of the species.  Grizzlies nourish whole ecosystems, fertilizing grand old forests with the salmon carcasses they carry deep into the woods.  They are NOT indispensable, as the so-called Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources of British Columbia seems to believe.

What is to be gained by this hunt in the first place?  Hunting should be replaced by ecotourism, a much more widely profitable boost for the economy.

Andrew Wilson has opened comments only until December 20th before he makes his careless, senseless, ignorant, and all around unwise decision on whether to expand the hunt.  THE HUNT SHOULD BE ELIMINATED ALTOGETHER, NOT EXPANDED!!  THIS IS A RIDICULOUS PROPOSAL, A GROSS DISPLAY OF GROSS MISMANAGEMENT OF A TREASURE WHICH CANNOT BE REPLACED, WHICH ONLY BENEFITS THE WASTEFUL COFFERS OF A WASTEFUL GOVERNMENT.  What a pitiful, sad display to the world for all British Columbians.

Please vote now to say NO to the expansion, and please leave a comment for the elimination of the hunt altogether.  Thank you so much for your support, the bears need us.

I include a link to a recent informative article regarding this important issue.

Dear Mr. Wilson:

I, and all British Columbians demand an end to the Grizzly Bear Hunt.  Please have mercy on these bears from rich, ruthless hunters who only add violence to our society.  Please do the right thing and protect our precious heritage for future generations, Mr. Wilson.
