Strangled and butchered: SHUT DOWN USA facilities that abuse monkeys

Primates are being strangled, neglected, violently handled and subjected to nightmarish botched surgery. If it happened in public there would be an outcry and swift legal action. If it happened abroad, the country's actions would be strongly condemned. But these hellish conditions are the reality for many defenceless monkeys suffering behind closed doors in USA institutions, and the USA authorities are responding with no more than a slap on wrist.

Please sign this petition to demand that institutions found guilty of serial, illegal abuses against animals are shut down.

Several institutions that are currently under investigation have previously received sanctions and fines for similar cruelties. Michael Budkie, co-founder of Stop Animal Exploitation Now (SAEN), said: “What these monkeys go through is the stuff of nightmares.''

''The way these animals die conjures up images that you can’t forget no matter how hard you try. When facilities become this large they turn into assembly lines and there’s no way they can possibly care for all of these primates. It also makes it hard to trust any of the research coming out of them. I would look to close these facilities. If you repeatedly violate the law, you need to be shut down.”

Please sign this petition to demand research facilities are not allowed to remain open if they are found guilty of serial abuses of animals. It's time for effective and proportionate responses to animal abuse in research institutions. Together we can raise awareness of this issue and push for tougher responses to abuse.
