Tell Louisiana To Restore Aid to Restore Planned Parenthood Funds

Planned Parenthood helps women make an informed choice about when and whether to have a baby. But it does a lot more than that. Planned Parenthood spends a great deal of its time and resources on cancer screenings. And, in Louisiana, Planned Parenthood does not even provide abortions.

So why has Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal cut off Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood clinics in Baton Rouge and New Orleans? Medicaid is a federal program designed specifically to help low-income and underinsured individuals receive medical care. Now, because of Medicaid cuts to Planned Parenthood, approximately 5200 of Louisiana's poorest and most vulnerable patients will not get the treatment and testing they need to stay healthy. Please join me in telling Jindal to restore Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood clinics immediately!

Dear Mr. Jindal,

We the undersigned are appalled that you have cut Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood clinics in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. It appears that you are attempting to punish Planned Parenthood for providing birth control and abortions to very poor women who cannot afford to have a child and would be unable to give a decent life to a baby. But Planned Parenthood does not even provide abortions in Louisiana! What it does provide are cancer screenings and other health services for people in need of affordable medical care. Please restore Medicaid payments to Louisiana Planned Parenthood clinics immediately!
