We have the right of better support for mental health

I currently have a care coordinator who I have been to see today. She tarred me with the depression brush and dealt with me the text book way. She says the way I am feeling is a normal feeling.

The way I am feeling at the moment is that I don't get listened to and get treated not as an individual but as everyone else with the same diagnosis. I am feeling quite depressed and as a result my brain decides it's a good idea to take tablets, jump in front of cars, jump of bridges etc. Is that what they call normal thinking? If it was normal then myself and many others wouldn't fight so hard to keep away from these thoughts.

Having a cup of tea doesn't help not even a quick fix. Been told things will get better isn't useful....we want to not get better but to be better. I am sick of been told it's not the end of the world....actually that's exactly how it feels.

I'm not saying this to tell you I'm not feeling great but to highlight the 'process' mental health professionals use. It's not a step by step thing that will definitely work for everyone. It's not a case of one size fits all. It's not right to discredit what we are feeling because no one but us know what we are going through.

Don't get me wrong, distractions can be helpful some times but not always effective. Maybe I'm moaning unnecessarily but all I hear from people using these services are they are rubbish. We are people and the decisions made can mean life and death. It's not just a 'doesn't really matter what is said' mental health isn't text book, you can't learn everything from exams. Our experiences are not written in any book so stop treating us in a way that you know exactly what to do. Just because you have qualifications and have been working in this role for maybe years it doesn't make you right. You are not God...don't play with peoples lives!
