We all recieved notice from national grid ng about a 37% rate increase this winter. Fact is they have effectively increased the electric supply rate by 61.5% this winter vs last winter. Ng ma current rate 16.273/kWh last winter rate 10.025/kWh. Ng is also the current highest price electric supplier in massachusetts, Nstar 14.972/kWh , Unitil 14.09/kWh , WMeco 14.015/kWh. Surrounding states have also had changes NY 9% decrease, CT 8.9% increase, RI 23.6% increase. Most electric suppliers in New England now tap off the same supply of available natural gas, meaning ng ma is unjustified in their price gouging. So why is NG in Massachusetts charging more than anyone else? We urge Martha Coakley to take immediate action against these unfair price hikes, and help the struggling families of the commonwealth with these outrageous ng electric bills.
