Stop the Slaughter of Dolphins in Taiji, Japan

Every year, thousands of dolphins are trapped and caught while passing through Taiji, Japan on their migration route. Seaquariams from around the world send representatives there to select which dolphins to buy and bring back for their shows. The thousands that are not selected for a seaqaurium are then slaughtered. So many are killed at the Taiji cove that the water runs red all over. The ones that are selected are then set for a life of captivity, forced to perform for profit of the seaquariums. This is a billion dollar industry, and everyone wants a piece of the action; creating excuses for why it is ok to be so cruel to these small cetaceans. Audiences watching the performces do not see the misery behind the dolphin's smiles. Rather than limiting our fight to protecting the whales, we need to stop this cruel and inhumane slaughter and captivity of dolphins.

Their mission is to protect the cetaceans in our oceans. The whales existence was being threatened by the whaling industry around the world. Right now, we need to see that the small cetacean, dolphins, are facing the same danger the whales were. The IWC's mission of protecting the cetaceans do not extend to dolphins, and this has allowed the city of Taiji in Japan to slaughter them by the thousands. Dolphins are sold to captivity in Taiji and seaquariums train them to perform for human entertainment. This causes them so much stress that ulcers are a common ailment among captive dolphins. In addition, the dolphins that are not sold are slaughtered, turning the water red with their red. Thousands die every year this way, a senseless killing of an intelligent sea mammal.

Do not just sit and idly watch as we allow for the destruction of the dolphins!
