Proclaim June, 2015 "PRIDE MONTH" in the City of Oak Harbor, WA

The Mayor's office issues many formal Proclamations throughout the year... but in the past, requests for "Pride Month" Proclamations have been ignored.

- Oak Harbor is a diverse community full of active duty military, young families, and veterans--many of whom spent years serving in silence.
- It is a city who's students from local high school and college Gay/Straight Alliance clubs march in our parades.
- It is a city that voted in favor of Marriage Equality when R-74 was on the ballot.

Oak Harbor boasts itself as a "...community where EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to thrive."  Let's prove it!

Help make history by obtaining Oak Harbor's first PRIDE MONTH Proclamation!

Mayor Dudley,

As you may know, June is "Gay Pride" month. Our state and country has made enormous strides on the equality front in recent years - from marriage equality sweeping the nation, to the repeal of DADT, and annual PRIDE celebrations at the Pentagon. If the Department of Defense and the White House issue "Pride Month" proclamations, why can't Oak Harbor? It doesn't have to be a "Gay" Pride proclamation. What we're requesting is simply "Pride" Month. One that is inclusive of all people, regardless of who they are, what they are, and what they believe.

-Oak Harbor is a diverse community full of active duty military, young families, and veterans--many of whom spent years serving in silence.
-It is a city who's students from local high school and college Gay/Straight Alliance clubs march in our parades.
-It is a city that voted in favor of Marriage Equality when R-74 was on the ballot.

It's time to send a clear message that we embrace and value our city's diversity. Oak Harbor boasts itself as a "...community where EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to thrive."  Let's prove it.

Please issue a proclamation declaring June, 2015, "Pride Month" in the city of Oak Harbor.

Thank you!
