Todd M. Schaffer Deserves THE Maximum Sentence Allowed by Law!

  • by: Rebecca Grammier
  • recipient: Judge Bissett and District Attorney Adam Levin - 415 Jackson Street, P.O. Box 2808, Oshkosh, WI 54903 - Case #2012CM000657

Schaffer (allegedly) shot his dog twice, once in the neck and once in the hind quarters.  He then wrapped him in a blanket, and drove him 1 mile from his home, and threw him in a ditch.  It's not known if he thought "Seven" (his new name) was already dead or if he left him there to die.  There were several pictures of "Seven" on Schaffer's FB page, taken with his children, showing what a loving dog "Seven" is.  Also, on his "Saving Seven" FB page, there are many pictures of "Seven", with adults and children, showing "Seven" is a very loving dog, even with people he encounters for the very first time.

What Schaffer did is simply inexcusable to this community!  We are asking you, DA Levin, to charge Schaffer with the MAXIMUM charge possible (FELONY)!  We are asking you, Judge Bissett, to sentence Schaffer to the MAXIMUM sentence allowed by law, if he is indeed convicted.  This should include FULL payment of ALL of Seven's veterinary care.  In addition, pain and suffering should also be accounted for, monitarily.

"Seven" somehow managed to crawl out of that ditch, and into the middle of the road, that terrible day.  Luckily, a kind man came to his aide, picking him up, and rushing him to the Animal Emergency Clinic.  They wouldn't treat "Seven", without his owner's permission.  So Seven's rescuer offered to pay the $4000 out of his very own pocket, for his surgery.  Since hearing of this story, the community has come together, to donate money for Seven's medical expenses.  Again, we are asking that Schaffer pay all of the expenses, both past and future, caused by Schaffer's cruel, inhumane, unspeakable acts of cruelty to his very own dog.  The donations that have been collected on Seven's behalf could then perhaps go into a fund to be set up in Seven's (and possibly his rescuer's) name, for other dogs who are victims of abuse from the hands of their owners.  His rescuer would also get reimbursed.

Thank You in advance, for your time, consideration and compassion.  If we don't speak up for those who can't, who will?  Please help us send a message, that this type of behavior is not "ok" in a civilized society.
