I own a property on the historic down town square. My property has sustained immense water damage due to water runoff from inadequate and outdated drainage systems on adjacent properties.
The local municipalities state that they cannot do anything to the owners as it is private property.
After no resolution and no efforts by the uncooperative property owners involved I took the parties to court. Even though this is a continuing problem the court dismissed my case at request of all parties because I did file a claim with the court system in a time frame they saw fit. AGAIN this is a continuing problem.
My videos, documentation of damage, doctors reports showing pain and suffering including loss of feeling in three of my fingers was not even heard.
I want to make CERTAIN this does not happen to anyone else. Property owners should be forced to maintain their property.
We recently had a partial collapse of a building on the Lincoln County square due to moisture.
I want the city to instate an ordinance that historical properties on the square must be inspected from the outside annually. And, historical property owners must maintain a proper, to code gutter/drainage system.
