(STOPP) Stopping The Oceans Plastic Pollution and Ending the Albatross Crisis

The plastic crisis inside our oceans have remain unseen by many people. But many do not know what lies beneath the glistening beautiful sea. Just underneath the sparkling blue surface of the sea lies untold horrors for every sea creature and sea bird imaginable.

This frightful thing is actually common. So common it litters the streets daily and we dispose of it without a care in the world. That's right, it's plastic. Plastic debris can be found just about everywhere in the oceans. But not in the usual large forms of plastic bottles or bags we receive them in, but as tiny little pellets. The plastic debris breaks down into smaller pieces in the ocean, some can even go down to the size of plankton.

What's more frightening is that many sea critters as well as seabirds mistake the plastic for food and eat it. You may have heard of the sea turtles eating plastic bags, well Albatrosses (a kind of sea bird) get their food from the oceans as well. When they scoop up the plankton with their beak, they also inevitably get the plastic debris. In which they feed to their chicks, the chicks are unable to regurgitate their food. So they're left feeling full and die of starvation.
This "Death by the Plastic" not only endangers the Albatross, but many other seabirds are affected as well. Even more worrisome is that plastic debris has been founded on Midway. Midway in summary, is a small island, far off the coast about 12,000 miles away from civilisation. Yet if anyone were to go there, they would be greeted by the sight of plastic debris littering the costal shore and many decaying bodies of Albatross chicks. And if one were to approach a Albatross chick and look at it closely, one would find in it's belly, plastic caps, plastic shards, and more plastic.

Here is a link for TED talk with Chris Jordan on Midway.

By signing this petition, you show that you are aware of this. Because more people are aware we are able expand outwards and give a voice in the albatross and other sea dependent animals making people more aware of this crisis happening in the sea. We hope that this petition expands enough to catch the attention of the mayor or Government.Enough to protest against the use of plastic items.

If we are able to get just 1% of the worlds poppulation to sign this plastic reduction petition, then we may get the attention of mayor's and Goverments of diffrent countries and soon, the chances of saving the sea and becoming a plastic free enviroment might just come.

Remember, you have the power to change the world.
