Medical ID's required to purchase syringes

I understand that doctors and pharmacists are concerned about people sharing syringes and spreading diseases. I also understand that it's safer for an addict to use their own syringe. But like narcan, this is only enabling addicts. For years now I have seen too many people die from drug overdoses. Heroine is spreading across the country like the common cold. Not only is it easy enough for an addict to buy a bag of heroine. But it's even easier for them to purchase the syringes needed to inject this horrific drug from their local pharmacies. I've spoken to local pharmacists about this issue. All a person has to do is ask for a bag of syringes that pharmacies have behind the counter and the pharmacist HAS to sell it to them. The men and women I have spoken to say that it breaks their hearts because they know for the most part what they're buying them for. The only people that require syringes to inject medication are diabetics and sometimes patients that need heparin. It should be mandatory to ask for a medical ID when purchasing syringes. The only way this can happen is if patients with diabetes carry their ID. The general public doesn't need to buy a bag of syringes unless it's for a medical condition. If we can get people to give their diabetic ID to the pharmacy, then it will make it severely difficult for a drug addict to purchase them from their local pharmacies. This is also taking away from the people that actually need these syringes for their health issues. There have been some who've had to go to a different pharmacy because their regular one ran out. This has to stop. I know this will take a lot of work. But if we can get enough signatures, then maybe we can have this be a new law.
