Please sign and share this petition in an effort to support environmentalists and ask California to shut down the nuclear plant, Diablo Canyon, due to secretive license changes that were made to allow this facility to run. Environmentalists have filed a lawsuit against the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. ((PG&E) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Diverse sea life ranging from starfish and anemones to sea lions and migrating whales could be exposed to unhealthy, toxic effects from the nuclear plant. We must demand the closure of Diablo Canyon!
PG&E along with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is responsible for Diablo Canyon within the Montaña de Oro State Park. This beautiful area is in the stunning rolling hills of the Central California coast that drop from tall cliffs into the thrashing waves below. PG&E's nuclear power plant is located in an area with views of spectacular wildflowers and steep rugged cliffs and poses a threat to all.
The nuclear plant lies along some significant earthquake fault lines. A lawsuit is in effect by environmental activists that targets PG&E and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The suit specifies that the license for the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant was revised as a way to mask the plant's vulnerability to earthquakes due to its aging condition. The plant's license was altered without public knowledge and without allowing public input or even notifying the public. In particular, earthquake safety standards were altered.
PG&E has continually failed its public by keeping the real effects of the nuclear plant secretive. We need to help support the issue and demand that the nuclear plant, Diablo Canyon be shut down immediately. State of California Legislators & Department of Public Health - You need to demand the closure of the nuclear power plant, Diablo Canyon in accordance with the suit filed against the PG&E and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Changes to the plant's license were made without allowing public input or even notifying the public. In particular, earthquake safety standards were altered and without the best interests of residents including children and local wildlife in mind. Put an end to this destructive, toxic nuclear plant, Diablo Canyon, and close it down immediately.
