Tell the U.S.- Protect Elephants from Extinction

  • by: Animal Advocates
  • recipient: President Barack Obama, Department of the Interior, Secretary Ken Salazar

In March 2013, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species will be meeting in Bangkok, Thailand and a discussion will include the proposal to legalize the ivory trade.

Elephants face the risk of extinction within the next 10 years if they are not fully protected. 38,000 African elephants are killed each year for their tusks even though the trade in ivory is illegal. The number will only increase if the ivory trade is legalized.

Tell the United States to oppose the proposal to remove the ban and to vote against any proposal that would legalize the ivory trade. Protect elephants from extinction.
