Save Sumner's Pool

The Sumner School District plans to demolish the SHS Pool and replace it with a parking lot. Despite the fact that the pool is used by the District swim and dive team, disabled students and swim camps, the District has not presented a viable short or long term plan for continuning the aquatics programs past next season. There are no other comparable facilities available to our kids or our community and no active plans for them. Our community just passed a huge bond levy for the District, but the District is eliminating community services because a new pool wasn't considered. We want the District to preserve our existing pool or build a new one to replace it and, in the meantime, present a viable solution for keeping our swimmers in the water. This email is to remind everyone to come to the District meeting this Thursday, February 23rd at 5 pm in the District Board Room, 1202 Wood Avenue, Sumner. The District will discuss their short and long terms plans for the aquatics programs.

Hopefully, we’ll get a better sense of who’s doing what, when, how and with what budget. Let’s be there to show our support for the program and ensure there is a viable, immediate plan for keeping our kids in the water. Thanks!
