Please sign and share petition to make this rapist accountable and punished for raping a 14-year old girl.
Mr. Austin Smith Clem, 25, was a neighbor to the 14-year old girl that he raped several times. The attacks on the young girl started when she was 13. At the time, he kept telling her, “this is okay and don’t say anything or you’re going to get me in trouble.” He made a threat against her parents so the girl kept quiet until she told a family friend when she was 18 years old. The family friend told the parents who then reported Mr. Clem to the police.
When going to trial, Judge Jimmy Woodroof handed down a sentence of community corrections and three years’ probation; no jail time! Clem will have to register as a sex offender and pay fines and restitution—a total of $2,381. His victim, Courtney Andrews, now 20 years old, states that she will be paying for the abuse the rest of her life but not the rapist!! This guy was given the same sentence as a non-violent offender.
There is definitely something wrong with our court systems when they slap a rapist on the wrist, say don’t do it again and give him community service as a punishment!! That surely will keep him from a repeat offense! We need to tell this Alabama Judge Woodroof to retry this case and make this man pay for the rapes and abuse on this defenseless teen all those years. Please sign and share petition to make this rapist accountable and punished for raping a 14-year old girl.
Alabama Court and Judicial System – There is something seriously wrong when you let a repeat rapist go free only with community service. Get rid of this Judge Woodroof and enforce better, stricter laws against rapist as a way to protect the people from such abusers. Putting him into the community on probation will only allow him to repeat the offense over and over, never to teach him how wrong his actions are. This man needs to be thrown in jail for several years to pay for what he has done!!
