Lower Cafeteria Prices Following the Main Lobby and Cafeteria Remodel

This petition is to inform and bring attention to the changes in the menu prices at the CLC Cafeteria since they signed with Fresh Ideas. The menu prices have increased up to 190%, forgoing the dollar menu option for students at the community college. Making it harder to eat cheap at school in the time crunches some may have between classes. Students are either forced to bring food from home (if they even have time to make something before leaving the house) or go without eating if they can't afford something to eat.

Something I have personally done, because I was in a bind as I ran out the door and then couldn't afford food at CLC because the cafeteria prices are all too high now.

Since CLC signed with Fresh Ideas and opened the new cafeteria, the prices of some items (previously known to students as dollar menu items) have increased up to 190%. A slice of pizza has gone from $1.00 to nearly $3.00 a slice. With having signed a three-year contract with Fresh Ideas, CLC has made a commitment to fresher and healthier food. So the question is, was the food we were eating in previous semesters not the freshest? As students who used to eat in the old Lancer cafeteria, the food was good and it was affordable. But now a meal that once cost $4 to get, costs $7. Given the fact that many students are at the school 5 days a week, they could potentially be spending $35 on just lunch alone.
So why the change in pricing?
Did the school board forget that we are at a community college because it’s affordable?
If we wanted to pay an obscene amount for a tiny sandwich, we’d go to a five star restaurant.

Could we bring food to eat from home? Yes. We could. But that requires carrying an extra bag with us amongst all our school books, a cafeteria is there for convenience and a viable option for students throughout the day.
