STOP the new Breed Specific Law in NC before it gets started.....

We need EVERY responsible dog owner to write letters to the City Council members and the Mayor opposing any Breed Specific ordinances.

Even if this isn't your state, you should write a letter of opposition.  In a blink of an eye, it could be your city and you will be asking everyone to help you battle the BSL.   If your chosen breed isn't mentioned, you should also write a letter of opposition.  It won't be long before your breed is listed!  Once the precedent is set for BSL in a community,  all it will take is one dog of your breed to bite a child and soon you will find your dog on the list.

So please take a moment to write some letters,  create a BSL template letter where you can quickly change the city and state.  Then it will only take a minute or two to send your letter.

Sample letters can be found here.....please find out who your representatives are and send a letter.  I don't know about you, but I love my Rottie's, and I am NOT willing to give them up...

Regulating based on breed is expensive, ineffective and wrong.   If I were to say that the majority of cars involved in fatal accidents were red, would one seek to regulate red cars?  No, that would be absurd as we understand it’s the driver not the color of the car.  The same is true with dogs, it’s the owner.
BSL in any fashion will not create a safer community.  The issue isn’t breed related but lies with irresponsible owners and/or parents.   Punishing an entire group based off the actions of a few is simply wrong and doesn’t target the root of the problem.   Organizations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), National Animal Control Association (NACA), ASPCA, American Canine Foundation have clearly stated they are against any form of BSL as it’s ineffective and doesn’t target the real problem...
the above is from a real case in California....but my sentiments exactly.
