Petition to allow portable basketball hoops

Target:
Whitney Ranch Community
We moved into this Whitney Ranch because we knew these 4,5-6 bedroom homes would boast a family oriented community. We chose to live on a court so the kids could play freely and safely out front. On our small court, we house 19 young children. We were dumbfounded to find out that we could cement a basketball hoop into our driveway, but we could not have a portable one for all the kids to enjoy yet have the freedom to remove it as it is not being used. We have now been fined $100 for the hoop. We were moving the hoop back and fourth into the side yard but realized we continued to get notices and fines. We purchased in this neighborhood because of the parks, pool, school etc.. Everything was based on raising our family.  We have 9 boys on our court alone and the first thing they want to do when they get home from school and finish homework is come outside and shoot some baskets. We are asking you support us in this effort to change this policy and allow portable hoops just as they allow permanent ones. Thank you for your support in growing a healthy, happy, active and safe community to raise our families.

Just to clarify for those against basketball hoops to maintain the beauty of our community. The HOA CC&R's allow for a PERMANENT basketball hoop. We feel that a portable one with stipulations such as having to replace it or remove it should it look hagard is a much better option than a permanent fixture. We don't feel people will be as likely to replace it and it can't be moved. If this petition does not pass, we will be forced to cement the hoop into our driveway which we are prepared to do for the kids. Please support the option that would allow our court to have one hoop for all the kids to enjoy.

I simply don't understand the rationale for the Whitney Ranch prohibition of portable hoops in the street. The rule defies every homeowner's wish to have a greater sense of neighborhood & community!

We had a basketball hoop in our court and we had to sell it because of the same reason. Our boys miss it and we wish we could have it again.

It is this very rule that almost PREVENTED us from purchasing here in the first place. Luckily, we got one of the few homes with a decent back yard. That along with solar is the reason we decided to purchase despite this ridiculous rule. We have four children, have lived here 10 months and still don't know many neighborhood children. Why? Because nobody ever plays out front. I would love to see this change--basketball promotes a group sport and sense of community. When one knows their neighbors personally, one is less likely to do something offensive--like allow their basketball hoop to become unsightly. Seems like a win-win to me.

We ditto everyone else before us! And please stop petty citations for pots without a plant in the front yard. Mine had a bulb and was just starting to sprout. Thanks!
