Being Mexican is not a felony!

Being judged and convicted without solid evidence, mostly because your race or nationality is wrong. When Gonzalo decided to finish his professional studies in Spain (International Commerce) he dreamed about starting an import/export business that could bring Mexico and Spain together throught an exchange of their vastly and unique products. He could never have suspected that his dream would become a nightmare when some subjects decided to abuse his confidence smuggling drugs into a container without his knowledge. He never had a chance. In the eyes of the Spanish authorities being Mexican means being a felon. And so they sentenced him without solid evidence to nine years, with an unfair trial where testimonies and evidence in his favor were not permitted, their investigation based mostly on information gathered tapping into his private phone conversations violating his right to privacy. Help us stop this injustice !

We join our voices to protest against racism and prejudice, against injustice. Everybody deserves to be heard and a fair trial. It does not matter what you hear or read in newspapers about Mexico. There are honest and hard working people too who are striving to change the bad image it has internationally. The Spanish authorities should reopen the case and base their judgement on solid evidence and hear all the testimonies in favor of Gonzalo. His sin was to trust the wrong people and he should not be punished for it. He deserves justice!.

Update #28 years ago
Almost a year has gone by and we are still waiting for the resolution on the appeal presented before the Constitutional Court of Spain . Gonzalo needs your support, we cannot let this injustice go on any longer. He is a brilliant young man who needs a chance to prove his innocence... regardless of his nationality. Please share, please care.
