Demand to Know Whether Your Water is Contaminated with Lead

If the Flint water crisis has taught us anything, it is how important it is to KNOW when your water has become contaminated with lead. To that end, the United States Environmental Protection Agency is recommending that states publish information pertaining to lead in water where it has been detected.

People have every right to know what kind of dangers lurk in their tap water. Some states have already taken action to make their residents aware of lead risks where they exist. But Iowa is citing "privacy" issues as an excuse not to publish this important and life saving information.

Please join me in asking the Iowa General Assembly to publish individual results concerning lead in water.

Dear Iowa Law Makers:

The Environmental Protection Agency is asking states to voluntarily publish results of water studies showing lead contamination. This would be a huge step in the right direction. Quite a few states have already taken this action, but you have not. Please allow me to stress how important it is for people to know whether they have been or are currently being exposed to lead in water. We have to look no further than Flint, Michigan to see what happens. Please publish individual results concerning lead in water.
