Save Pasir Ris Forest

The forested area already has a large population of birds and thus is ideal for a bird sanctuary. The area is a secondary forest regenerated after a kampong was relocated.

It is meaningful to preserve areas where birds are already present and are calling it home. Whether it was a primary forest or secondary forest is of least concern, what is more important is what the area has become and what it means to the residents and fauna of the area.

Though the forested area has a range of flora and fauna present in a range of sites in other parts of the country, one must not look at this current number, but what the number can and will grow to. As more and more forested areas are cleared for development, the Pasir Ris forested area will be an ideal place for accepting animals that will be driven out from their existing habitats.

It is sincerely hoped that there will be support for the protection of the entire Forested Area that extends over 268 000 metres squares between Pasir Ris Heights and Pasir Ris Farmway 1, and include it as part of the existing Pasir Ris Park. This area should be used for recreation activities for the residents of Pasir Ris as well as a refuge for wildlife.
