ASHA, the lone elephant at a roadside zoo, Natural Bridge Zoo in Natural Bridge Virginia, has suffered for nearly 3 decades. Natural Bridge Zoo has been named the #1 Worst Elephant Zoo in the United States by In Defense of Animals, Intl. 

Asha is forced to give rides in sweltering heat under threat of physical abuse from bullhook-wielding handler(s). The bullhook is a steel-tipped baton with a hook at the end that is used to control elephants through fear and painful punishment. In winter she is forced to dwell in a dark building with a cold, concrete floor, posing life-threatening problems to her. ASHA lives a solitary life; her main "playmate" is a hard rubber tire. The complex nature of elephants is to socialize with other sister elephants. Sadly, much of ASHA's life is spent walking round and round in a small enclosure with her rubber tire.  Her swaying behavior is showing signs ofPTSD. 

We are asking Delegate Sam Rasoul from Virginia to help us Free ASHA from Natural Bridge Zoo so she can be moved to an elephant sanctuary where she will be able to walk freely, eat freely, and enjoy the company of sister elephants.
