Keep the Highland Maintenance Building out of Highland Town Center

As citizens of Highland, we would like to keep our parks and neighborhoods safe.

Highland city has proposed building the city's main equipment, maintenance and storage facility on the northeast corner of Town Center Meadows. This proposal raises several concerns about safety for children, water and home values.

The proposed site would allow heavy trucks and machines to frequently come in and out of the corner of Town Center Parkway and 5400 West which is located within the SE corner of Highland City's Town Center and is part of the Town Center Meadow's park where children often ride bikes, scooters and play sports and games in the park.

There is also concern about the city storing chemicals and fertilizers next to the canal and 1 of 5 main city wells. In addition, the location will impact the home values of the neighborhoods to the Northwest and South of the area.

We would like to propose that the city build the maintenance building to the west of the public works building (land the city already owns at the mouth of the canyon). This is also land more suited for industrial and mechanical buildings, not the middle of town and neighborhoods.
