Necessary to strengthen the protection of the Amazonian manatee, as well as a special conservation area on the Amazon River. Over the centuries they were hunted for their meat Amazonian natives and fat. The bones of the middle ear manatees (stirrup) is considered a strong aphrodisiac. In the XIX century. commercially mined manatee meat (called mixira) in great demand. Despite intensive trapping for their meat, fat and skin, in 1942, manatees are still in considerable quantities in the Amazon and its major tributaries. Since 1965, the Amazonian manatee is listed as the International Red Book. It now has the status of "Vulnerable" and in Appendix I of the CITES. They need to be rescued.
