STOP DANGEROUS ASBESTOS DEMOLITION IN MARINA DEL REY, CA

  • by: Michael Goode
  • recipient: Jerry Brown Governor of California and Don Knabe LA County Supervisor

Babies, the elderly and others at risk are getting sick from asbestos dust and fibres in the air in Marina del Rey, CA.  There is a construction project that spans 3 acres at 4242 Via Marina, Bar Harbor Apartments and Marina, and contains 780,000 square feet of asbestos-laden material that is being demolished with no proper asbestos removal procedures. The workers on the site, are not wearing any protective equipment and are at serious risk for mesothelioma and asbestosis.

Mesothelioma is a fatal form of lung cancer related to asbestos exposure with no known cure.  The state of California, the County of Los Angeles, is doing nothing to stop these developers who do not want to remove the asbestos in the proper and safe way.  Demand that the State of California and the County of Los Angeles issue an emergency injunction against Driver Urban, Inc. and Amli, Inc. to stop all demolition immediately on this site and force Driver Urban to remove all demolition debris and all asbestos fully in accordance with California and Federal law in order to protect the health and safety of the workers and the 40,000 people who live in the area. People's lives depend on it!!!
