Merck - Stop Sale of Drug Used In Growth of Cows, Harming Them!!

Please sign and share this petition in an effort to encourage the company Merck to discontinue the drug Zilmax. Zilmax is part of a class of drugs called beta agonists, which are chemically similar to the human hormone adrenaline. It is a drug that was used to make the beef build muscle but caused many other ill effects. Several meat producers will not accept Zilmax-fed cattle meat. It serves no good purpose and we are working to stop its production and sales.

The Food and Drug Administration has concerns about the use of the drug Zilmax in the cattle industry. It was given to cattle as a way to get them to gain weight quicker. Meat packing industry is appalled at the effects of the drug and many refuse to buy cattle that have been treated with Zilmax.

Researchers report that the cows suffer with the drug with what they call "cattle fatigue syndrome." They show typical signs of pain, suffering, becoming immobile and walk or move properly. Many exporters and importers will not accept Zilmax fed cows. Merck is doing further studies on the drug, hoping to bring it back but we need to get this drug pulled off the market. It serves no beneficial purpose.

Merck is the producer of Zilmax and we are working to encourage discontinuation of Zilmax and save cows and the cattle industry from its ill effects. Please support this issue by signing and sharing this petition worldwide and stop the production of this drug. Merck & Company Pharmaceutical - You need to take Zilmax off the market, not just do a study on it with considerations for bringing it back. There is no beneficial use for it and all it does is create illness and the cattle fatigue syndrome in cows. Save these animals and the meat packing industry and stop the sales of Zilmax permanently.
