Save the National Endowment for the Arts

Do you think it's important for us to do everything possible to promote the education of future generations? Do we want kids who will be civically engaged and have high career goals?
Then sign this petition to keep the National Endowment for the Arts from being cut from the federal budget. Brian Darling thinks we should cut "waste" (as he calls it) like the NEA to reform our spending. However, the arts provide benefits that far outweigh the costs of paying for this program, which would be just under $150 million for 2017 if the appropriations request is fulfilled (the total federal budget for 2015 was $3.8 trillion). "America is recognized throughout the world as a place where the size of your dreams is limited only by your imagination. Where creativity can inspire new things that at some point in time may have seemed impossible, and where self-expression thrives without restriction. This is what has allowed our cultural landscape to flourish, and to bloom so vibrantly." -Jane Chu, NEA chairman
So whether you sit more left or right on the political spectrum, I urge to to think about our future. I urge you to think about your own past, when a movie, book, or song has gotten you through a tough time that you would not have been able to get through without. Think about how big a difference the arts have made in your life and the life of everyone you know. Then think of the difference you could make with a signature.
