End Homelessness Part II: A Discussion

Let me elaborate on a thought: Today we can make a difference in our lives and the lives of future populations that will reap the rewards or suffer the consequences of the work we do here today. So let's get it right today. We are able to make positive change happen that will affect the lives of many in fractions of time. This Call to Action proposes that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services take the lead on the issue. That HHS expand its vision of solutions (current ones are not enough) for the homeless problem.
That HHS 1.) Distribute formula block grants to states to establish programs that serve the homeless to improve the provision of services in the areas of Personal development services, mental health services, rehabilitation services, employment services, housing services, Adult, early childhood and k-12 educational services, substance abuse services, medical and dental care. 2.)That HHS act immediately and partner with existing agencies in a well-timed and well-orchestrated collaborative effort to deliver big ideas and big solutions for maximum impact to vulnerable persons of the homeless population. That they adopt a Rapid and Extreme Program: Road to Recovery in one year. HHS and related agencies are encouraged to 1.) Provide for nondiscriminatory aide to homeless clients and the elimination of eligibility paperwork in their administrative protocols. 2.) Work with related agencies 3.) Develop, disseminate and utilize format toolkits and blueprints to strengthen program impact. 4.) Empower state and community partners to improve their urgent response to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Dear Friends:
Today is the day we put up a bold front and Just Say No To Homelessness. We can no longer stand by idly or stationary while the world slips away from us and while people in this good nation of ours need our help. We need to be pro-active at every level: the janitor, the car washer, the entrepreneur, the church, Congress, The President of the United States. Let's start with the fundamental basics-appreciate what we have already done and seek out ways to do more. In order to negate homelessness, there needs to be an equal or greater action. The only logical action is to create more solutions. Let's make friends and start working networks to seek ways in which we can improve each other's lives. Most importantly, let's detoxify ourselves of any pre-conceived or current falsehoods that enable and cause strife and disharmony for current efforts.
