UPDATE 12/18:  THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT . . .We Lost the Battle, but continue on with our heads raised high and hearts filled with your support -

The MAAB ruled in favor of Mocha Mott's and against all people with disabilities. Heartbreaking but we wish them the best and hope that someday they see the value of all people regardless of their ability to run stairs.

YOU CAN STILL HELP IN 2 WAYS:  1) continue to show support for Handicap Access in your local community and 2) Click the link below and make any size donation to build Lucy a Wheelchair Ramp for her home.

Sincere thanks - The Power of Lu

Original Petition:  My name is Lucy, I am a disabled year-around resident of Oak Bluffs, MA. I am blind and have Cerebral Palsy, I can not walk or talk, but I love going to Mocha Motts for a breakfast burrito with my family. I love hearing all the people sitting around sharing stories as they enjoy their daily Jo.

Unfortunately, now that I am growing up and getting bigger, people are having a difficult time carrying me up and down the scary stairs to get in. But with your support of the law there is hope!

Mocha Motts is currently doing an extensive remodel (+$100k) to repair damage from burst pipes last winter. Insurance will cover the reapairs, so now is the time to bring the popular café up to code so that everyone, young and old, able and handicapped, can enjoy their coffee, bagles, and burritos together.

Please let them know that you support the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessibility laws and support all efforts to upgrade their facilities to meet current building and accessibility codes for all people, including older Americans with canes, walkers or wheelchairs, as well as all of us empowered with special needs.

May you be blessed with the Power of Lu

Dear Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety Architectual Access Board and the town of Oak Bluffs,

Please enforce the current ADA guidelines and local building codes to ensure that our favorite breakfast and coffee restaurant, Mocha Motts 10 Circuit Ave., has inside ordering and seating accesible to all patrons, including but not limited to those persons with limited mobility.
