Tell Best Buy: Join REI and Close on Thanksgiving and Black Friday!

  • by: Paige D

REI and other retailers are closing their doors this Black Friday to give their employees the time off and the holiday they deserve.

As a leading participant in Black Friday, we ask Best Buy to do the same by giving your employees paid time off on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.  Best Buy has a chance to set an example for retailers across the nation by taking a stand for employee rights.  Employees deserve the option to spend time with their family for the holidays.   A holiday should not consist of working all day on Thanksgiving or waking up the next day at the crack of dawn, just to work a longer shift without extra pay.

Not including the possibility of dealing with drunk customers… closing your doors on Thanksgiving and Black Friday removes the risk of any labor law violations and eliminates the high volume of crimes that tend to happen every year on Black Friday.

Best Buy specific incidents have included a former Marine being stabbed and a customer robbed at gunpoint.

Best Buy... is the reward really worth the risk?

Let Best Buy employees spend time with their families this holiday.  Tell Best Buy to close on Thanksgiving and Black Friday!

Dear Mr. Joly,

As the CEO of Best Buy, I strongly urge you to give your hardworking employees the paid time off they deserve this Thanksgiving and Black Friday.  Your employees deserve the chance to spend this time with their family, like most Americans have.

As a leading corporation, Best Buy has the ability to set an example for retailers across the nation by closing its doors and taking a stand for their own employees.
