Save our Farms

Nextera Energy Resources is proposing to build a 62.25 megawatt photovoltaic facility, located six miles northeast of Marshall. Near intersections 290th and County Road 9.

Approximately 500 acres of some of the best farmland in the state will be replaced with solar panels that have a life expectancy of 25 years. Once those 25 years have gone by the project will most likely be decommissioned.

Ten family farms will live within one mile of the land, where rich and abundant crops grown for decades will be replaced by an inefficient and out of place energy source. We are concerned of the possible health risks being forced upon these families, the value of their properties depleting, the disruption of natural habitat and the loss of county control.

You may think this is Minnesota's way of going green but it is actually taking away the most important green our state currently grows - Save our farms!

We the undersigned refuse to support the Marshall Solar Energy Project that would take farmland out of production and threaten the health of nearby residents.

We stand as concerned citizens against the currently proposed location. We ask that alternative sights be considered that are less impactful to surrounding residents and productive farmland.
