Remove Owen Paterson from the Cabinet

  • by: Oscar The Badger
  • recipient: Owen Paterson, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Owen Paterson is Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and as head of that department he has spearheaded an unpopular plan to cull badgers in England. This is a policy which was not in the coalition government manifesto at the time of the last election and therefore not sanctioned by a majority of voters in the united kingdom. In fact a debate in Parliament in 2012 (following a large petition on the No10 website) concluded that the badger cull, headed up by Paterson's dept was also unpopular with the majority of MP's but Paterson chose to ignore them too. Therefore, one can only conclude that Owen Paterson is running his assigned department as a personal hit-squad against precious wildlife of England.

There is no 'legitimate' science to support the usefulness of Paterson's 'free-shooting' badger cull plan which, if he stays in office will begin (in at least two regions of England) as early as June - the height of the tourist season.

Wales by contrast has decided against a badgers cull in favour of vaccination after the electorate of Wales removed pro-cull AM's from office in a timely election.

Lets take a vote to prove that the electorate of Britain will not tolerate such a barbaric and bombastic method of interacting with precious UK wildlife.  Let's also show that we have no confidence in Owen Paterson to run an important office and hopefully encourage David Cameron to replace him with someone more suitable.
