Make justice for animals work.

In Rio de Janeiro  2004 , the chimpanzee %u201CJimmy ,%u201D 26 years old, who has lived  in Niterói Zoo Foundation (ZooNit) for 11 years now  ,had his habeas corpus denied. Brazilian Constitution laws are only applied to humans and GAP (Apes Support Group)  lawyers unsuccessfully defended that apes should be judged the same way so that Jimmy could have the right to be freely removed to a place where he would live with other animals of his same species .This poor chimp was brought up and worked in circus since he was a puppy. In 2000 Circo D%u2019Italia donated him to ZooNit, where he lives now isolated, without any partner, in terrible zoo condition. A judicial battle has occurred since then on behalf of Jimmy and other  animals%u2019 s welfare.

In fact, since October 2010, IBAMA agents have been removing animals from ZooNit supported by judicial decision. IBAMA affirms that this zoo hasn%u2019t respected the Conduct Adjustment firmed between them and the Federal Public Ministery which established a reformulation in the shelter of apes . Now IBAMA is taking animals out of ZooNit and replacing them in better condition places .

However, this battle made other victims such as the  lion %u201CDengo%u201D who is alone, depressed and lost 8 kilograms since the lioness Elza, his partner for 8 years in the same cage, was taken out to Brasília zoo while he was left behind. Removing animals is laudable but keeping them together, when they have a partner, is healthier and caring.

Let%u2019s support the cause of the withdrawal of animals urgently and put an end to their suffering.
