Help Preserve The Taylor Yard Turntable!

Since 2009 the concrete foundation of the Taylor Yard Turntable has been used as a community gathering space for art, music and Angelino culture. However, the structure is set to be demolished in 2017 during Phase 1 of the future Taylor Yard River Parcel G2 Project.

Instead of demolishing the turntable foundation, it is our intent to have the existing structure included within the master plan of the park project. The official proposal for the Taylor Yard Turntable Preservation Project was submitted on April 18th to the LA River Works Committee. The proposal aims to redirect funds appropriated for demolition towards providing for safety and security upgrades (stairs, rail etc).

By preserving this historic location, we hope to create a must-see destination along the Los Angeles river that can be used for open-air classrooms, music performances, art demonstrations and more. Its preservation would serve as an artistic tie to the industrial past of the area and would provide a creative gathering space where the diverse culture and character of the surrounding neighborhoods could be represented.
