Tell Petco and PetSmart: Don't sell Purina's Beneful food until the courts rule it's not toxic!

There is controversy regarding the health and safety of Purina's Beneful-brand dog food -- until ongoing investigations and lawsuits prove it is proven safe, Petco and PetSmart must ensure it's off their shelves and unavailable!

Several pet owners have recently claimed that their dogs died after eating Beneful (made by Nestle's Purina), now with two lawsuits in existence. One of the ingredients believed to be in the dog food, an additive known as propylene glycol, is used in antifreeze.

Purina is adamant that Beneful is safe for your dogs and the FDA has actually approved the use of the propylene glycol additive in human foods -- but until the lawsuits and related investigations are completed, pet stores like PetSmart and Petco should err on the side of caution and not sell the product in their stores.

Several Care2 members concerned about the dog recall have created personal petitions, sharing their own stories from Australia to Ohio. We are not making any accusations one way or another regarding the Nestle company or Purina's Beneful brand. We who love our animals want to ensure their safety and just want to be cautious in what we offer them until the courts can sort everything out.

Speak out to PetSmart and Petco by signing and sharing this petition - tell their CEOs to take the necessary precautions and not sell Beneful until the investigations and court rulings are finalized! Let's do this in the name and the best interest of the animals involved.

PetSmart And Petco Store Officials - We ask you to not sell Beneful in your stores while lawsuits are underway and the product is under investigation. We ask that as a precautionary measure, until the courts rule, STOP SELLING BENEFUL PRODUCTS IN ANY OF YOUR STORES.
