End Homelessness Part 1: A Discussion

SavetheWorld2Nite!

Let me elaborate on a thought: If homeless shelters and current programs are effective and doing its job, why does the homeless problem still exist? The answers politicians and agencies hand out by the cheap dozen are not good enough. Today we can make a difference in our lives and for the lives of future populations that will reap the rewards or suffer through the consequences of the work we do here today. So let's get it Right TODAY. If we continue to withhold the necessary help that people need, we will be doing our work in vain and it means nothing.

Programs of such critical importance like programs that help the homeless need to get it right the first time around. Do you know what the dangers are, if not? Everyone will assume that the services that exist are good enough. Until, a homeless crisis peaks. That crisis may be consequential for society in terms of public health (spread of disease in the open streets), public safety (vagrancy in residential neighborhoods), and crime (desperation leads to acts of criminality like prostitution, drug trafficking, thievery). Let me ask you another question, what separates this country from third world impoverished countries? Homelessness should not exist in the United States of America. It deteriorates the advanced state of society [otherwise know as civilization (look up the word in the dictionary)] for everyone. The day the homeless problem happened in this country is the day the Constitution stopped working for the people. Something is wrong. We need to find out what it is.

Let us not judge the homeless anymore. Let us judge the situation. Let us judge and be critical of the factors that caused the homeless problem to happen. And try to remember how unsightly and inconvenient it is to have your city plagued with homelessness. I hate to downgrade my proper disposition and phrase the problem so, but for some reason there are others in the professional world who are hell bent in keeping the homeless down on their luck and in punishing them that I am forced to appeal to the other part of the population in this way. There are those die hard staunch hard nosers who are quite good and well positioned to stone wall any efforts or solutions that are aimed at helping the homeless. It is time to put that to an end.

Dear Friends:

Today is the day we put up a bold front and Just Say No To Homelessness.  We can no longer stand by idly or stationary while the world slips away from us and while people in this good nation of ours need our help.  We need to be pro-active at every level:  the janitor, the car washer,  the entrepreneur, the church, Congress, The President of the United States.    Let's start with the fundamental basics-appreciate what we have already done and seek out ways to do more.  In order to negate homelessness, there needs to be an equal or greater action.  The only logical action is to create more solutions.   Let's make friends and start working networks to seek ways in which we can improve each other's lives.  Most importantly, let's detoxify ourselves of any pre-conceived or current falsehoods that enable and cause strife and disharmony for current efforts.
