West Virginians for HB 2908 (McGeehan/Folk Budget)

  • by: Stephanie B
  • recipient: Governor Jim Justice, President Mitch Carmichael, Speaker Tim Armstead

West Virginia must have a budget in place before the June 30 fiscal year end or face a costly government shutdown.  Governor Justice vetoed the budget passed by both chambers on the last day of the session.

Delegates Michael Folk and Patrick McGeehan worked for weeks to draft a budget that will not raise taxes.  It is a budget that West Virginians can afford and even provides a 2% raise for public school teachers, but it has not been considered by the Governor or either chamber.

Special sessions cost taxpayers $35,000.00 per day in money we simply don't have.  It is time to give this budget plan the review the taxpayers of West Virginia deserve.

The citizens of West Virginia deserve a budget that halts the growth of state government tax burdens upon us. HB 2908 introduced by Delegate Michael Folk and Delegate Patrick McGeehan makes targeted cuts on bureaucracies and corporate welfare and includes a 2% raise for pubic school teachers.

Each of you ran on platforms promising not to raise taxes.   Increases to the tobacco tax didn't solve our budget issues as promised because we have a spending problem! We respectfully insist you honor the commitment made to voters by passing HB 2908.
