PARENTS OF MENTALLY ILL ADULT CHILDREN UNITE TO SAVE OUR KIDS

Are you a parent of an adult child with mental Illness, specifically Schizophrenia? I believe we are a silent majority and if we come together we can demand change so our kids may live with dignity and civility.

We need to tell Congress we will no longer allow our children to be thrown in to jail cells adding insult to injury after being denied help from mental health crisis centers and professionals in the mental health field.

We need a safe secure facility that offers medical treatment, therapy and a residential community that will allow them to learn how to function with this disease with a goal to llive independently.

Because they lack awareness of their own illness and do not
think they are sick we as parents need to have the authority to have them placed in a safe secure environment to learn about their illness and how to live with it.

Once stable and able to reason our kids should at that time be offered their medication in the form of a shot. This way they are only required to receive this medicine once every three months as the shot lasts this period of time.

Once our children have been deemed severely mentally ill and their condition bad enough to be placed on social security disability, their medication should be free. This serves the community as much as it helps manage our children's illness.

Their medicaid should stay active upon receiving social security disability

We need funding for awareness and to educate American's about schizophrenia.
We need to demand more accountability to emergency facilities who are on the front lines.
Emergency mental facilities need to be required to keep our children in their facility until they are deemed able to care for themselves rather than just no longer threatening to harm themselves or others.

Let's tell Congress that it is not acceptable for our children who are sick and denied medical care at mental crisis centers to be thrown in jail and placed in isolation cells where they are neglected.

Jails leave our mentally ill family members in these cells for weeks and weeks without regard to basic standards of decency and little to no human contact for days at a time. Research has shown isolation and restrictive housing can cause serious, long-lasting harm.

Lastly, I ask you to sign this petition and join me in telling Congress to stop allowing these jails to violate our children's civil rights by placing them in these isolation cells as it is cruel and unusual punishment for non violent crimes such as trespassing.
