hearing this story about my cousin makes me wonder. shes in jail because she was accused by the nonresponsible mother of HANNAH ROSE JUCEAM. this mother had a great relationship with my cousin Veronica and then all of a sudden things changed after 12/10/07. because of a simple shook. the mother pressed charges KNOWING VERONICA was INNOCENT!!! after having a good relationship with the family the FATHER AND MOTHER OF HANNAH JUCEAM gave her drama by being TWO FACE! leaving 2 of her children a widow mother in jail. we believe that she is released judges have proof that she is innocent so why keep her in. 100%innocent dont believe me check HER CLEAN RECORD

well my name is daniela and i am related to veronica martinez. the fact that she is in jail because of something she was accused of makes the family mad and have no idea why she is still in their is super strange. she has been a wonderful person WITH A CLEAN RECORD! to me this is an accident she should not be a part of. she did her time so let her out the judges have the proof that shes innocent so why not let her out! this is so rediculous how for a simple accident a INNOCENT person got in jail leaving her daughter and son, who they care for there mother and have to have the thought in there head of WHY IS SHE IN JAIL WHEN SHE INNOCENT.

Although God knows the truth he allows things to happen to see what kind of person WE CHOSE to be and what our decision is going to be, turn to him God or fall into despair. This is so unfair this lady is my aunt and I luv her with all my heart she took care of me ever since I was a little girl and she never hit me she was the best aunt ever I miss her soo much and I really want to see her again!!!! To all the people who are reading this please believe us that she is innocent she is the best mother ever!!! and I know that because I lived with her most of my life when my parents were out of town she was the one who took care of me she is like my second mother!!! I feel that Veronica is being framed by the father of the baby, and the police on on his side. Roseville Police dept cars have his stickers on them and so do the placer county D.A people. That is no being baised, they already judged her as guilty. The babys father has a terible temper and is known to bully people around.

I believe the baby was already damaged when the mother left for the errand. I think this happens too many times and the blame is passed on to the caretaker.

If I were falsely blamed, nobody would probably care. They would worry only about how the family was feeling without questioning their credibility at all.

My name is Deana Anderson Gamba. I was in jail with Veronica Martinez Salcedo for six months and became very close friends with her. I am outraged at the way that the system has treated Veronica. I believe that Veronica has been trapped in a cycle within the justice system that is taking advantage of her and it appears to me that if Veronica were from this country and had a working knowledge of the English language and were better able to express and defend herself verbally, she probably would not be in the position that she is in. The father of the child killed and the law enforcement officials have taken advantage of Veronica's inability to properly defend herself against these charges. You have a single female from Mexico being charged with a crime in a primarily white upper-middle class Placer County. I don't make this statement without thought as I too am white and resided in an affluent area of Placer County. I have been a law abiding citizen all of my life up until the incident last year that put me in the Placer County Jail with Veronica and I was able to see firsthand how the system treats you. After spending six months with Veronica, I know in my heart that it is impossible for her to have committed this crime. While I feel for the family of the little girl and I am sorry for their loss, Veronica DID NOT DO THIS. I also have the feeling that there is a big reason for the attempts made by the girls' father to discredit Veronica and to deny her right to due process in order to deflect the blame away from where it really belongs. I want to see Veronica free to go home to her family and I am willing to participate in any efforts being made to that end. I was jailed for trying to PROTECT my child and I found out the hard way that you are GUILTY until proven innocent and not the other way around. It is sad to see how the system REALLY works. Veronica is simply not capable of this violent action and to see her being punished by a backwards system is maddening. The scientific evidence presented by the DA's office does NOT support their theory that Veronica did this, if anything it shows that a family member of the child is more likely the guilty party, yet the overzealous DA continues the witch hunt. I was the object of the same DA, it is a scary thing! It should also make others aware of the fact that you could be accused of anything at anytime and end up in the same situation and you are helpless to stop any of it from happening. There but for the grace of God........

I think she has been wrongly accussed. Why, we don't know, but It does not seem possible for them to prove she shook this baby at the time they said she did. Someone else in the house could have hurt her close to that date or maybe the child fell down or was ill. There are just too many holes in this story to confict her. And why would they accuse her when she had been a trusted caregiver up until that time.

The theory of shaken baby syndrome rests on core assumptions: shaking is always intentional and violent; the injury an infant receives from shaking is invariably severe; and subdural and retinal bleeding is the result of criminal abuse, unless proved otherwise. Retinal haemorrhage is one of the criteria used, and many doctors consider retinal haemorrhage with specific characteristics pathognomonic of shaking. However, in the March 27, 2004 issue of the British Medical Journal, Patrick Lantz et al examine that premise and conclude that it "cannot be supported by objective scientific evidence." Nonetheless, we proceed with the prosecution of this woman for a crime that cannot be supported by objective scientific evidence. What does this say about us as a society? As individual human beings?
