Stop the CHCCS Recall

Ronald DeFelice, PhD, MBA and Riza Jenkins Redd, JD, MBA are leading a recall of three Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools board members. They are displeased by ONE single vote by the board made in response to a surprising proposal from the Administration. As a result of their recall efforts, Margaret Samuels, Chair of the CHCCS Board of Education, resigned. Ms. Samuels is a tireless advocate for children, and her resignation is a tragic loss for our community. We must not let our town be held hostage by parents who resort to scorched-earth politics when they don't get their way. Stop this baseless recall so that we can focus again on the needs of all children in our district.

Allowing this recall to proceed will set a dangerous precedent in our town. We must not reward tactics of well-financed intimidation. The November election is just around the corner. We can save the town money, keep the focus on our children, and use the regular Democratic cycle this November to debate differing views of how to best serve our students. Please sign this petition to demonstrate that the citizens of Chapel Hill and Carrboro will not be intimidated. The greater our numbers, the more we can show qualified school board candidates like Margaret Samuels that we value thoughtful, committed public servants. A strong showing of support can help restore calm and civil political discourse to our town. Stop the recall. For more info see: stopCHCCSrecall.com
