County councilor Ottar Brage Guttelvik of Møre og Romsdal has made an unconsulted decision of eliminating the ONLY way of reaching the home of Asbjørn and Gullbjørg on the village of Skår due to a "tight budget". The only couple remaining in the village were not told that they could lose their only means of communication to and from home before the decision was published in the local newspaper!!! There, they read that Skår was not part of the new contract that Møre og Romsdal county municipality entered into with Fjord1 on the operation of a ferry on inner Sunnmøre from January 2020. Their only form of income is through the operation of a sheep farm which is on the hamlet.
Thankfully, the village has become a famous tourist destination due to its natural beaty. From Skårasalen (1542 m above sea level) behind the farm, over 500 skiers visit the village as it is a nature paradise. They believe that skiers can create new types of income for the small hamlet. The ferry is absolutely crucial to being able to run anything in there. By taking away the ferry, the Municipality will force the family into poverty as risk losing everything. This will also be a loss for nature lovers!
Please sign this petition to ask the municipality's councilor in Møre og Romsdal, Ottar Guttelvik to re-consider the contract they signed with Fjord1 to include the continuation of the ferry service with Skar.
