Stop the 5:00am Noise Exemption in Glenview

ONLY FOR RESIDENTS OF GLENVIEW, ILLINOIS.  PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR STREET ADDRESS WHEN YOU SIGN

The Glenview Board of Trustees unanimously approved changes to the noise ordinance in a first round of voting on April 1st that will allow landscaping activities to begin at 5:00am, seven days per week, on Glenview's five golf courses, 26 parks, and the forest preserve.  In addition to the early start time, there is no restriction on the type of equipment used which could include leaf blowers, mowing equipment, chainsaws, and wood chippers.  The noise generated from these activities not only affects the quality of life of the residents, but also property values.
Please tell the Glenview Board of Trustees that we do not want our parks, golf courses and forest preserve to be exempt from the noise ordinance.  In order to preserve the peace in our community we ask that these entities adhere to the same 7:00am standard that the residents must abide by.
The final round of voting will be held at the April 17th meeting.  Your signature will be presented to the Board of Trustees at the meeting to show we do not want this ordinance to pass.

Update #110 years ago
UPDATE AS OF APRIL 10TH.

The key point the Village is making as to why 5am is necessary is that this is the start time that has been the standard practice since the inception of the parks and golf courses. Whether or not it's always been done that way, doesn't make it right!

Two last requests:
1. Keep spreading the word.
2. Attend the Board of Trustees meeting on 4/17 at 7:30pm at the Village Hall. This is the final opportunity to weigh in before the last vote takes place.
