There have been sightings of big black cats throughout Australia for more than 100 years, although more witnesses are coming forth in recent years, causing the government to intensify their inquiries and investigation.  A member of the Department of Primary Industries, Mr. Williams, often felt it to be a myth until one night when he and his wife saw the big cat. ''We turned a corner and there was a big black cat with a long tail that disappeared through a fence,'' he said.

Residents and landowners are concerned about these sightings because of the destruction and demise of their sheep, deer and livestock that have been seen torn about by something massive and strong.  Until now, Mr. Williams reported that ''There is no animal in this country that does this type of thing.''  ''We don't want people to go and hunt them down, what we want is some signage in remote areas to remind parents to keep an eye on their kids.'' Officials finally believe it is time to classify this creature and state “We need to identify the creature, and know its habits. There are populations of this marsupial species all over Australia. The government should pay for an investigation” and this is exactly what we are encouraging.

For the safety of residents and to protect their children and animals, it is imperative that an inquiry and investigation be instilled to identify this large cat species.  Such government studies will involve looking at all past evidence to determine the likelihood and further presence of these large “phantom” free-ranging cats. There is a large concern for the safety of the public and attacks on livestock and other private owned animals.

Australian Government – You need to do something to launch government inquiry into "phantom cat" and start conservation for the protection of your residents, livestock and other personally-owned animals subjected to destruction and death.  People should not be living in fear because of this large marsupial, dangerous creature that is lurking in the night.
