DOUBLE DUNE SYSTEM WITH BOARDWALK NOW!!

We the people of Rockaway need protection from the ocean. With global warming, the unpredictable nature of Mother Nature leaves us vulnerable.

DOUBLE DUNE SYSTEM WITH BOARDWALK NOW!

Recently, the Rockaway Beach Civic Association voted unanimously to approve Walter Meyer's "Dune Forest" pilot proposal which includes a boardwalk between Beach 87th and Beach 97th Streets.

This proposal needs to be approved so that the work of building the Dune Forest with Boardwalk can be started immediately.

As the Asst. Commissioner stated at the Dome last week, our neighborhood is the most vulnerable to future storm damage.

The double dune system with trees will provide critical protection for our homes and businesses, is ecologically sound, is largely self-sustainable, is relatively cost-effective, and can be constructed quickly.

A deep network of roots reinforces the dune system. The sooner we build the dunes and plant trees, the sooner this system works to protect us. This system, combined with "hard' structures, such as cantilevered walls and jetties, will protect us in the near future and beyond as we prepare ourselves for future storms.

We deserve nothing less!
