Our school take's in misfit students and makes them feel welcome and a part of our school. We bring them into an atmosphere that only some can dream of. No judging, no bullying, no discrimination. A big part on why the school is the way it is, is the name. R-5... It stands for something and to most it's just a name but to the students, staff and those who know our school it is so much more. R-5 is an acronym. It stands for Respect, Relevance, Responsibility, Relationships, and Readiness. Its the first thing you see when you come in our doors and one of the last things you see walking out. All 5 of those are incorporated into everything we do each day at our school, our job and even at home. We take them with us in everything we do, and now the school board wants to change that. Why should we let them change our name to suit them. Its our school our name and its OURS!!!!! Don't change our brand! You change our brand and you change us. Each one of us students has felt lost in one or more of those and because of our school incorporating the name into everything we do it made us feel like we belonged and it made us feel excepted because we were ready, we were respected and we gave respect, we finally took responsibility for our actions, and we made it relevant we were there and did what was needed, and some of us gained relationships we never dreamed of having. The 5 R's are in everything we and a student teacher and staff body. We are a whole because of R-5.
We go into R-5 with no confidence, no self esteem, no nothing to coming out with self esteem and confidence in ourselves. We make the school our own and not just the school. We turn our confidence into owning ourselves and our world. We turn the world into our playground and we make the world ours. We are not cookie cutter high school students we are unique and different. We are one of a kind. We are our own, if you don't like us then we don't like you. Give us a chance and we will do the same... Our name takes on a huge roll. It helps us find our place. It helps us find ourselves.
