Demand a Change to Personal Independence Payment

Everyday hundreds of well deserving people are being DENIED Personal Independence Payment - the new system replacing disability living allowance

Adults and disabled teenagers - who in the eyes of the law are still classed as children - are forced to endure a long, emotionally challenging and often heartbreaking process. They are made to prove they are disabled, and then told they are lying by people they have never before met. In our eyes this is DISGUSTING.

Well, do you think this is right?

We don't! So we want to make a change, with YOUR help.

If it was our choice:

1) Assesors must be a medical professional in your disability/illness
At this current period your assessor does not have to be a health professional

2) Support must be offered to help subjects undergo the process
e.g. To fill out paperwork as doing so for the first time can be extremely confusing and overwhelming

3) The point system must take in to account other aspects which may occur in normal real-life situations
e.g. Moving around must take into account the chance of stairs/carrying objects (something the system does not already recognise)

These are few examples of how we would make a change and that's the reason for this petition - a way to implement these changes for good.

I've go to be honest with you, I am 17 year old disabled girl who started going through PIP at the age of 16. I am no famous celebrity, life changing activist, and so on but I do want to at least try to help those who have been left voiceless.

So I ask you again, Do YOU think this is right?
