As someone with Cerebral palsy that relies on the state to process my caregivers to be approved to work and get paid, I and many others cannot keep waiting months just for a background check to go through.
As someone who relies on care 7 days a week and cannot go without it, I always need reliable care.
With the state processing my caregivers do not start, most times until 6-8 weeks after I hire them. Most Americans can not go over a month without having a job or getting paid, so with this situation I am not able to find caregivers. I believe the wait should never be longer than 2 weeks, as that is the normal time frame when leaving a job.
I believe we have the power to change this and the state can help out by speeding up the process. For people like myself and the thousands of others, our lives depend on this.
