In 2015, the musical group Air Supply will be celebrating it's 40th anniversary. And what could be more fitting, then to be nominated and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. No other group is more synonymous with soft rock and love songs than Air Supply. Formed in 1975 in Sydney, Australia by Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock, this group took the world by storm in the early 80's with with seven top 5 singles in a row, equaling The Beatles’ consecutive run of Top 5 singles.They have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.
More recent successes include: Air Supply charting with the singles “Dance With Me” and “Faith In Love” ( 2010 album Mumbo Jumbo), which reached the Top 30 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. And “Desert Sea Sky,” whose remix by The Wideboys hit the Hot Dance Club Play chart. Graham Russell has also been honored with a BMI Million-Air Certificate recognizing three million performances of “All Out Of Love,” “Dance With Me” became the #1 most added track on the FMQB AC40 Chart, and also one of the most added on the R&R (Radio and Records) AC Chart and the Mediabase AC chart. Billboard featured them at the time in a article titled, “Still Supplying The Hits After 35 Years.”
And even now, 40 years later, Air Supply is still going strong and for many, there is no better love affair than the love they have for this group and their classic songs. We did, it reached our first goal, 250 signatures on the petition! Thank you for taking time to sign the pettiton to Induct Air Supply into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. So far, we have collected 150 signatures of our goal of 1000. Air Supply will be celebrating their 40th anniversary on May 12, 2015, & what a great gift if we could reach 500 signatures by then.
