Change Unfair Parking Fine Practices from Doubling in 5 Days!

Changing the fine doubling time period is important because of the stress this time frame puts on people and their wallets. 5 days is not near enough time to come up with $25 or $30 for those living paycheck to paycheck. I do not think Provo beleives in putting people into debt because most people would resort to credit card use in an emergency situation.

The issue is that all Provo parking tickets double in 5 days and then increase again in 10 days. This increase in fines is unreasonably fast. I don't know when or for what reasoning the change occurred but it is not good. Doubling the fine so fast does nothing but make people hate Provo and the Provo Police. Is that worth the extra money?

My goal is to change the fine doubling period back to the original 14 days, and then again at 30. Please realized that not everyone has the money to pay right then. I know I didn’t when I received my ticket for $30 for parking the wrong direction in front of my house for a few hours.

This system takes advantage of poor people and those struggling to make ends meet. Luckily for me I got paid in 9 days from the ticket being issued and not 10 because I would have had a fine near $100 and I could not have paid that.
Please see this issue as a serious problem
