Help US Navy Recruiters Mental and Physical Health

Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) has just released a policy that enforces all US Navy Sailors currently assigned to Recruiting Duty to now work a mandatory 6 day work week from Monday to Saturday, with only 4 Sundays off each month. This Policy takes effect starting July 8th nationwide and will not compensate sailors in any way, shape or form for the additional time while civilian government employees will be awarded overtime for their Saturday workdays in support. This policy is coming into effect because military recruiting as a whole is at an all time low. Instead of focusing on and improving upon the Navy's issues and retention problems, it was determined by admirals, who are out of touch with the fleet, that working longer hours in recruiting will solve this problem. This will be pulling parents away from their kids, husbands and wives away from their spouses, sailors away from their pets, etc. for 312 out of 365 days a year. These extended recruiting working hours are pulling US Sailors away from their families for more time than if they were on an operational vessel that is actively going out to sea. Even Submarine sailors preparing for deployment get at a minimum of 6 days off each month and are paid more money compared to Navy recruiting's 4 days a month with no additional compensation. The additional time in the office and away from home will lead to higher stress levels (which are already at a record high) and extremely limited time for proper rest and relaxation causing higher suicide rates and more mental health problems. The solution to this issue is to rescind the policy of mandatory working saturdays with zero additional compensation. If you know a Navy recruiter please call them and make sure they are managing stress appropriately and are doing ok. I urge you to sign this petition to give back 52 additional days of family and decompression time for US Sailors currently assigned to recruiting duty.
